Developmental Education
What is Developmental Education?
Developmental Educators are highly skilled professionals specialising in supporting individuals with disabilities within a human rights framework. Their approach revolves around understanding the unique experiences, needs, and aspirations of people with disabilities.
Developmental Educators collaborate closely with individuals with disabilities to foster inclusivity and overcome environmental barriers. They employ a diverse range of professional techniques and expertise, including the application of developmental, behavioural, and social theories.
Their work encompasses assessing both the individual and their surroundings, engaging in collaborative planning and goal setting, and implementing evidence-based instructional strategies. They also support individuals through life transitions, while advocating for their rights and providing community education and capacity building.
